Lea’s history Lascaray Sa (Lea), founded in 1823, is one of the long-lived existing factories in Spain placed in Alava. During almost 200 years of history, Lea has diversified adapting itself to the technological progress and changes of the marketplace trends. In 1823, Juan Bernardo Lascaray arrived in Vitoria from Ciboure (France) and created a factory of small tallow candles in Vitoria’s Prado district. With the second generation, thanks to Casimiro Lascaray, the new factory called Estrella Alavesa” was launched in 1855, where the production of candles and soaps continued.
